My name is Matt Straight. Born in England, raised in New Zealand, three years in the Philippines, one year in India and now residing in Australia. Some call me a country slut. And that doesn’t mean that I listen to Billy Ray Cyrus and get around. I love to travel and I love the Fitness Industry.
I was one of those fat kids at school that the “Cool” Kids just loved to tease. Despite the fact that I would joke about my weight in an attempt to deflect the vicious comments, the truth was, those comments would cut deep enough to carve a path that would lead me to a life of health and fitness. One day, I just decided that I had had enough of hiding my body and feeling self conscious. I decided to learn how my body works and how to trick it into letting go of unwanted body fat. In 1999 I started working in a corporate gym in Auckland New Zealand and started my journey into the fitness industry.
After thirteen years in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, nutritionist, group exercise instructor, fitness educator, body builder and international health club manager, I have prescribed exercise and nutrition to hundreds of people in five different countries.
I would never prescribe a style of diet unless it 1. Made sense and 2. I had tried it myself first. Only once I understood the effects and the effectiveness of the diet and made sure that it would be suitable for my client, would I then recommend it.
We all know the difficulties associated with weight loss and keeping it off. I am a firm believer that if the dieter understands how their body works and the reasons why we gain and lose weight, they have a much better chance of sticking to the plan and achieving success. Sometimes I think people have become resigned to thinking that weight loss is just a “lucky break”, a coincidence or only for those who are genetically gifted.
Everything that happens in our bodies, happens for a logical reason and there is a STRAIGHT FORWARD answer for everything that happens within us.
Far too many people needlessly suffer from the negative effects and major frustrations associated with being overweight. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of people get their weight under control and their lives back in order. Unfortunately as the years moved on, I too have moved on from place to place.
With this blog, my aim is to help as many people I can from all over the world by providing lasting information that will educate readers to take back control of their bodies.
